Structure of Matter (Struttura della Materia)

Legacy (F16014 F03014 - 4-years programme) academic years 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 — this class has been terminated in 2003.

The official programme of this class remains as defined by L. Reatto at pag. 5-6 of this document. It involves: the development of modern physics, elements of atomic, molecular, statistical and solid-state physics, plus a final chapter about cooperative phenomena in condensed matter (superconductivity, superfluidity and magnetism).

The students who attended E. Fabrici's course can be examined on E. Fabrici's programme as defined at Pag. 7 of this document.

The following list collects the fraction of notes on the exercise classes specific to the big old Structure of Matter, not included in the current slimmer S. of M. 1 course.

  1. Compton effect
  2. Miscellaneous exercises on basic experiments (Franck-Hertz, Millikan...)
  3. 1-D Schrödinger equation, with Lecture notes with details on the Fourier transform and exercises
  4. A list of especially useful exercises in the Eisberg-Resnick book
