Reaching Nick's office

To reach Nick's office:

• enter the Via Celoria 16 gate and walk straight up the stairs into a hall;
• cross the hall and walk to the right past the elevators, through a gray fire door into a long corridor;
• turn left into this corridor and follow it through;
• walk through a fire door, cross the stairway hall, and remain at the same floor;
• walk through another fire door, maintain the same overall direction, go past the elevators and cross a secondary entrance hall;
• reach the door labeled Sezione Struttura della Materia (ask Nick for the code to unlock it, or phone Nick);
• proceed along the corridor and find Nick's office behind the 10th door (labeled A/T/C11) at the corridor left-hand side.

Reaching the Department

The closest subway (metro) stop is Piola (Piazza Piola), about 800 m walk to the PD. Line 2 stops there: this line connects (among places) three railway stations where long-distance routes call: Milano Centrale, Milano Porta Garibaldi, and Milano Cadorna.

Air connections

From Malpensa airport - MXP: take the rail link to Milano Centrale or Milano Pta Garibaldi or Milano Cadorna, then the subway Line 2 direction Cologno-Gessate to stop Piola, then walk. Total time: approx 100 minutes.

From Linate airport - LIN: subway Line 4 to stop "Argonne". Then, either walk northbound along Via Aselli/Piazza Gorini for approx 1 km, or walk to L.go Porto di Classe and switch to bus 93 direction Lambrate. Step off at Celoria-Istituto Besta (4th stop). Total time: approx 30 minutes. (Linate is by far the most convenient airport.)

From Orio al Serio / Bergamo airport - BGY: Catch one of the frequent buses to Milano Centrale FS, then metro Line 2 direction Gessate/Cologno to stop Piola, then walk 10 mins. Total time: approx 90-100 minutes. There might still be an infrequent direct bus to the Lambrate railway station: catch that one then walk 20 min to the PD or ride street bus 93 (Total time: approx 80 minutes).

Rail connections

The closest railway station is Lambrate FS, with connections from/to Bergamo, Verona/Brescia, Cremona/Treviglio, Mantova, Rimini/Ancona/Bologna/Piacenza/Lodi, Ventimiglia/Genova/Alessandria/Asti/Pavia. It is located Piazza Bottini, about 1200 m walk to the PD. Optionally, lazy walkers may step on a 93 bus - direction Omero - to the PD (step off at Celoria-Istituto Besta, 5 stops).

In case you commute from any of several nearby towns (e.g. Varese, Novara, Saronno, Treviglio, Lodi, Pavia) through the local rail link called passante ferroviario, consider disembarking at the Porta Vittoria station, then catch the 93 bus northbound (direction Lambrate), and step off at Celoria-Istituto Besta (7^th stop). Alternatively, disembark the train at the Dateo station, and expect a 2 km / 25 min walk to Via Celoria.
